The Association Malienne de Recherche - Action pour le Développement (AMRAD) was leading a workshop in Timbuktu (spelled Tombouctou in French) to teach artisans, particularly women artisans, techniques for developing and producing marketable products based on the traditional book arts practiced in Timbuktu, as well as business skills required to run a micro-enterprise.

AMRAD wanted a website to document the training and promote the products. I used existing photographs of the ancient manuscripts and additional photos I took of the city of Timbuktu and the artisans in training to create a site rich with the colors of Timbuktu.
